Program of Work

Each year, the Chamber Board and staff conduct committee work on a range of issues affecting the local economy.  Below is a synopsis of the committees and their areas of focus.

Buy Local Awareness  

Plan and conduct awareness projects utilizing local media partners. Research affinity/gift card programs.

Workforce Development & Education

Research and coordinate programs to assist employers in recruiting and retaining workers, and develop the local workforce.  Partnering with Brenham ISD, Burton ISD, Blinn College and Workforce Solutions, plus local HR managers and employment professionals.

Tourism Marketing & Planning

Long-range focus on tourism marketing for Brenham/Washington County.

Annual Fundraiser “Tailgate Party”

Host one annual event to raise funds for Chamber programs and projects, so that membership dues can be kept among the lowest in the state and nation.

Chamber Building & Facilities 

Assess and address issues related to the Chamber's physical property, to maintain it in the most attractive and efficient way possible.

Leadership Program 

Ten-month annual training program to help grow leaders for the future of Washington County.

Government Affairs & Advocacy 

Be the "voice of business" for the 775+ members of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, building positive relationships with state and local elected officials.

Technology & Small Business Issues Seminars

Host educational workshops that are local and affordable for members, so that they can stay up-to-date with technology tools for their businesses.

Finance/Budget Preparation Committee

Prepare the annual budget for the Chamber, including all programs and projects of signifance to the membership.
