Need Summer Help?

Would you like to employ a motivated young person this summer?  The Washington County Youth Initiative is implementing a pilot program this Spring that includes an 8-week job training session for 16-year-olds.

After the training, the students will be matched with local employers.  A mentor will also work with the youth to make sure the summer employment experience is successful for both the business and the student.

If you have a summer job position that could be filled by an enterprising young person, please contact the Chamber office (phone: 979-836-3695) to get more details on this program.

Recent Media Attention!

Watch for upcoming articles in Texas Parks & Wildlife magazine and Fort Worth publications from a travel writer and a food and wine editor who were recent weekend visitors to Washington County!  Houston's Channel 13 News also sent a satellite truck, videographer and reporter Cynthia Cisneros here on April 5th to cover the beautiful bluebonnets in the County. They filmed in several locations, ran a short spot on the evening news that day and a longer segment the next evening -- providing great exposure for our community. In addition, Channel 55 in Houston included the county's wildflower displays via still shots on their 1:00 p.m. show on April 13th. Hope some of you were able to catch some of these highlights.
