Need Summer Help? Would you like to employ a motivated young person this summer? The Washington County Youth Initiative is implementing a pilot program this Spring that includes an 8-week job training session for 16-year-olds. After the training, the students will be matched with local employers. A mentor will also work with the youth to make sure the summer employment experience is successful for both the business and the student. If you have a summer job position that could be filled by an enterprising young person, please contact the Chamber office (phone: 979-836-3695) to get more details on this program. «
BRENHAM CHILDREN'S
CHORUS
Brenham Childrens Chorus invites you enjoy their next live performance on Sunday at Festival Hill in Round Top! Be captivated by the pure, clear tones of 65 children as they perform at this beautiful venue. Their special featured guest will be the Brenham Sacred Choir and professional trombonist Jeffrey Freeman. The winner of the "Battle for the Baton" competition will also appear, David Folschinsky, and he will open the performance by leading the chorus and orchestra in the National Anthem. Tickets at the door are $15 for adults/$6 for children 12 and under. Purchase advance tickets for only $12 per adult at the Brenham Childrens Chorus office (located inside the Community Ed building), at Appel Auto Country or at Funky Art Café. For more information, please call 979-277-6540 or visit www.BrenhamChildrensChorus.org. « Recent Media Attention! Watch for upcoming articles in Texas Parks & Wildlife magazine and Fort Worth publications from a travel writer and a food and wine editor who were recent weekend visitors to Washington County! Houston's Channel 13 News also sent a satellite truck, videographer and reporter Cynthia Cisneros here on April 5th to cover the beautiful bluebonnets in the County. They filmed in several locations, ran a short spot on the evening news that day and a longer segment the next evening -- providing great exposure for our community. In addition, Channel 55 in Houston included the county's wildflower displays via still shots on their 1:00 p.m. show on April 13th. Hope some of you were able to catch some of these highlights. « Upcoming events...
